Hunting
Norfork Lake has
10,000 acres of land in 5 Wildlife Management Areas and 20,000 acres
of public land managed by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and
US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), for deer, turkey and small game
hunting. In addition to numerous non-game birds and animals, there is
an abundance of white-tail deer, wild turkey, fox and grey squirrel,
rabbit, red and grey fox, opossum, raccoon and mourning dove. The
outlying areas offer even more hunting opportunities including wild
hog and bear. Migratory waterfowl are attracted to the lake during
the spring and fall flights. Although the waterfowl use the lake to
rest, they offer little hunting since there is not enough food
available to keep them in the area. Norfork Lake’s hunting zones are
Deer & Turkey – Zone 3, Bear – Zone 1.
