Get On the Lake

Current Norfork Lake Conditions

Current Conditions As of Nov. 8, 2011

It’s business as usual on Norfork Lake. The lake is great shape. Clean, cooler, flat as glass, just as you would expect Norfork Lake to be. Locals call it “Norfork Clear”.

Warm daytime temperatures and cooler evenings make for a pleasant visit to Norfork Lake this fall. The foliage this fall has been one of the best in recent years and there's still time to view it but you better get here quick! The Ozark hardwoods are exploding with color.

With the lake level down about 2 feet and the shoreline into the gravel, all Norfork Lake Chamber of Commerce members report operating as usual. The Corps of Engineer parks and campgrounds are operating on their winter schedules. Be sure to call ahead for campsite availability.

Fishing this fall has been very good and expected to be the same into our mild winter months. So far, we have had a very good crappie season and the smallmouth action has been excellent and the night bite is on. Check with your favorite chamber member for the most up to date conditions.

Speaking of fishing, THE BITE”S ON! The action has been everywhere, in the creeks, the flatter points, under the docks and the dam area. Check with your favorite chamber member or our local fishing reports for the most up to date conditions.

For you anglers, the stripers are in their early fall pattern. There is an early morning top water bite. Watch for the late afternoon bite to pick up soon.

For the best dates, better make your fall plans now. As always, we’re filling fast!

NORFORK LAKE ACCESSIBILITY

The lake is fully accessible and ready to be enjoyed. Access to Norfork Lake and the North Fork River is available at all locations.

THE RESORTS ARE OPEN

All member resorts are open and operating in a “business as usual” mode.

CAMPGROUNDS ARE OPEN

HOW’S THE FISHING?

Overall, fishing has been incredible this year and will be for years to come. Because of the 2002, 2008, and 2009 higher spring water levels, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reports the Norfork Lake fish population has exploded. For up to date information, check the current fishing reports published on our Fishing Report Web page or with your favorite chamber member. Now is a good time to book that guided Norfork Lake Striper fishing trip. The bite is on! And bring a big net, a really big net.

IS THE LAKE SAFE & CLEAN?

Absolutely! The Corps of Engineers report no concerns regarding the water quality of Norfork Lake. For the near term future, keep a watchful eye open for floating debris. This is expected to clear soon. It just gets better every day.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT?

Really not much. The same great features that Norfork Lake is nationally famous for and that you are accustomed to are available for your enjoyment. You will find access, conditions, and approaches to the parks, marinas, and resort boat docks fairly normal.

Don’t you think it’s time to get on the lake?
